Twiddle Pledges $15,000 To BIPOC Organizations As Part Of White Light Foundation ‘Month Of Giving’

White Light Foundation, the charitable organization founded and operated by Vermont jam band Twiddle, has announced plans for a charitable month of giving, conversation, and education in honor of Black History Month. The initiative comes as a result of a series of fan-led conversations aimed at addressing systemic racism both in the music community and nationwide. White Light Foundation plans to direct grants of at least $1,000 each toward more than fifteen BIPOC organizations working in support of three primary issues: health and wellness, the elimination of food apartheid, and criminal justice. WLF will highlight the organizations in partnership with Twiddle through their social media channels throughout the month of February.

“I am so proud of the Twiddle Community for standing up against systemic racism,” notes Twiddle keyboardist Ryan Dempsey in a statement. “Together, with your donations made to the White Light Foundation, we can make a change and show we are all in this together. The more we join hand in hand, the better world we will have to raise our children in.”

White Light Foundation typically directs its charitable efforts to organizations working with the respective cities in which Twiddle performs. With regular touring still stalled due to the pandemic, WLF has chosen to honor its Month of Giving by selecting beneficiaries from the cities the band was supposed to visit on its COVID-interrupted 2020 schedule.

“WLF is proud of our accomplishments but 2020 taught us, we can do better,” adds White Light Foundation president Steve Perlah. “We are grateful to Twiddle for embracing this important cause and our community for helping us better understand the impacts of systemic racism. This month of giving is an important first step for us and a recognition we need to change the way and why we give.”

White Light Foundation, incorporated in 2015, has donated over $250,000 to local non-profits around the country. In partnership with Twiddle, WLF supports causes important to the band and the fan base including the opioid crisis, after-school programs, and food insecurity. For more information, head here.
