This Saturday, February 13 at 8 p.m. CT/9 p.m. ET Austin City Limits will close out its 46th season by revisiting the late great Allen Toussaint’s performance in 2010 on the famed live music television program. Toussaint penned the timeless sentiment of “Yes We Can Can” around 1970, with Lee Dorsey originally recording the song that year. The Pointer Sisters then had a hit with the tune in 1973. Toussaint included the song in his ACL performance, a career-spanning set that also saw the pianist playing “There’s A Party Going On,” “Fortune Teller,” “Working In A Coal Mine,” “St. James Infirmary,” “Get Out My Life Woman,” “Southern Nights” and more.
Since airing in 2010, Toussaint’s appearance has become one of the program’s most-requested episodes. In honor of Toussaint’s recent birthday (January 14) and the upcoming Mardi Gras celebration in his hometown of New Orleans, ACL will revisit his performance this Saturday to close out their 46th season.
