The Late Show With Stephen Colbert bandleader and recent Golden Globes winner Jon Batiste also served as the musical guest on Tuesday’s episode. Batiste contributed a performance of his recent single, “I NEED You.”
“I NEED You” appears on the New Orleans native’s forthcoming We Are album, which is set for release through Verve Records on March 19. The “I Need You” performance video from last night’s Colbert features Batiste backing himself on the track in a great use of technology.
“This song is a vibe cleanse,” Batiste said regarding “I NEED You” and added, “After 2020, this is like a warm hug. Let’s bring the vibes back!” Jon prepped We Are with producer Kizzo and songwriter Autumn Rowe. Contributors include Mavis Staples, Trombone Shorty, Quincy Jones, PJ Morton and more.
