Funk bassist/guitarist MonoNeon has dropped his second full-length studio album of 2021 with the self-released SUPERMANE, which arrived this past Thursday (3/18).
SUPERMANE follows Banana Peel On Capitol Hill, which was released back in January, and was co-produced by MonoNeon alongside Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Davy Nathan. The eight-track album includes the previously shared tracks “Done With The B-S” featuring singer Ledisi, and “Invisible”, and also notably features funk organist Cory Henry on the title track. Other MonoNeon collaborators who appear on the album include guitarist Jairus Mozee, drummer Derrick Wright, and saxophonist Kirk Whalum.
MonoNeon recently received some well-deserved praise from superstar comedian Eddie Murphy, who described the musician as “Jimi Hendrix and Basquiat and Skittles, all combined” during a New York Times interview published last month.
