Rhode Island Governor Daniel McKee shared good news on Thursday, when he announced “There will be music in Newport this summer” at a press conference. As such, the Newport Folk Festival (and Newport Jazz) will move forward with its 2021 event.
Newport Folk Festival will be held at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island July 23 – 25. “Governor McKee of Rhode Island has indicated that we will be able to have events this summer with modified capacities,” noted the event’s organizers. “Though Newport Folk won’t look exactly the same, we are thrilled to be bringing music and artists back to the Fort.”
“We are working hand in hand with state and local government and various health officials to ensure that what we present will set a benchmark for safety and transparency through our protocols and communication,” added Newport Folk Festival organizers.
