Widespread Panic shared video of “Pilgrims” and “Conrad The Caterpillar.” The footage comes from WSP’s April 16, 2011 concert at Oak Moutain Amphitheatre in Pelham, Alabama.
The “Pilgrims” and “Conrad” performances are the latest videos — although WSP did release footage of “Conrad” alone in 2012 — in Widespread Panic’s rollout of highlights from 2011 including a slew of videos from the band’s 25th anniversary run in Athens, Georgia as well as clips from the subsequent spring shows at Oak Mountain, one of which was moved to nearby Birmingham due to inclement weather and included a massive bust out of Traffic’s “Feelin’ Alright.”
“Pilgrims” and “Conrad” are both Panic classics with the latter seeing its debut on May 26, 1986, as per Everyday Companion. WSP unveiled “Pilgrims” as an instrumental on September 14, 1992 and it appeared on the band’s 1993 studio album, Everyday. While “Conrad” never appeared on a studio LP it has featured in a number of live records including the band’s landmark 1998 live album Light Fuse And Get Away.
Both songs have remained in heavy live rotation since their debuts and are among Panic’s most played songs. To date, “Pilgrims” has been performed 543 times while “Conrad” clocks 711 plays. The 2011 Oak Mountain pairing of the tunes served as the encore.
