Grateful Dead/Dead & Company drummer Bill Kreutzmann will reunite Billy & The Kids for a series of three livestream concerts featuring Billy Strings and special guests. The “Grateful Mahalo: Billy Kreutzmann’s 75th Birthday Pa’ina” performances will air live from Kauai, Hawaii May 7 – 9 via FANS.live at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
Billy & The Kids features Kreutzmann on drums, keyboardist Aron Magner, bassist Reed Mathis and guitarist Tom Hamilton. The band made their official debut at the 2014 installment of Warren Haynes’ Christmas Jam.
The three-night run of audience-less livestream shows mark the first Billy & The Kids performances since a set at the 2016 Wanee Music Festival. Kreutzmann and his mates had planned to reunite last year before the pandemic led the band to cancel a series of festival appearances and a headlining date.
