Circles Around The Sun Announce ‘CATS In Space’ Livestream [Video]

55

Circles Around The Sun will perform a virtual-only event to stream on FANS next week on Friday, April 16th, the rock band announced last week.

The stream, dubbed CATS In Space, will see the instrumental ensemble joined again by guitarist Scott Metzger (Joe Russo’s Almost Dead) as the band continues to charge forward following the death of guitarist Neal Casal in August 2019.

In a press release announcing the livestream, FANS promised that CATS In Space will go beyond a conventional webcast. Enhanced with special effects, the band and platform plan to pair the group’s interstellar grooves with spaced-out imagery, with “a heavy emphasis on how’d-they-do-that space illusions.”

In addition to the performance, the stream will also feature an exclusive live Q&A experience along with limited-edition merchandise bundles.

Since the death of Casal in 2019, CATS has been joined by a rotating lineup of familiar guitarists including Eric Krasno (Soulive) and a 2020 winter tour with Metzger. Though originally these guest appearances were purely temporary, it appears that Metzger may have cemented himself as a fixture of the group. On March 24th, the band quietly changed its Facebook bio to read, “Circles Around The Sun is Adam MacDougall, Dan Horne, Mark Levy, and Scott Metzger.”

A brief teaser shared by the band offers a preview of the far-out combination fans can expect from pairing Circles Around The Sun’s music with cosmic imagery. Tickets for the Circles Around The Sun CATS In Space livestream on April 16th at 9 p.m. ET are available via FANS.
