In late March, goth rock stalwarts Evanescence released their first album of all-new original material in about a decade, The Bitter Truth.
To celebrate they’ve announced a free livestream gig, dubbed ‘Driven to Perform’, which will see them performing songs from the newly-released album plus favourites from their back catalogue.

The virtual performance will take place next month on Friday, 14th May at 11AM AEST, and will be hosted by none other than Alice Cooper. In addition to Evanescence, the livestream will feature an opening slot performance from one of three up-and-coming rock outfits. The three bands had to record a cover of Cooper’s song ‘Under My Wheels’ – you can vote for your favourite here.
The Bitter Truth marks the first new album of original material from Evanescence since their self-titled 2011 album. In 2017, they released Synthesis, which saw them rework earlier material with orchestral and electronic elements. The band released a slew of singles in the lead-up to The Bitter Truth, including ‘Use My Voice’ and ‘Wasted on You’.
Watch the newly-released video for The Bitter Truth cut ‘Better Without You’ below – heads up, it comes with a warning for photosensitive viewers due to the use of flashing lights throughout.
