Earlier this week, Mikaela Davis and her band Southern Star took part in delivering a virtual performance for Relix, where the harpist and occasional Wolf Bros collaborator offered up a lengthy and exploratory take on Jerry Garcia‘s beloved ballad, “Bird Song”.
On Thursday, Davis shared pro-shot footage from the livestream, which showcases the band’s mesmerizing take on the jam-friendly ballad which grew into a fan-favorite within the Grateful Dead‘s live catalog following its release on 1972’s Garcia.
Some fans may remember when Davis sat in with Bob Weir and Wolf Bros for a performance of “Bird Song” and more during the trio’s appearance on NPR Music‘s Tiny Desk YouTube series in 2020.
