Daniel Hutchens, a co-founding member of the Athens, Georgia-based band Bloodkin, was hospitalized and placed on life support on Friday, May 7 after suffering a “massive stroke.” Hutchens’ condition was reported via Bloodkin’s social media accounts.
Hutchens co-founded the Athens, Georgia-based Bloodkin with Eric Carter, amassing over 300 original songs by the mid-1990s. Several of those songs have been covered by fellow Athens-based band, Widespread Panic, including “Can’t Get High,” “End Of The Show,” “Henry Parsons Died,” “Who Do You Belong To?” and “Quarter Tank of Gasoline.”
Hutchens’ was hospitalized in late-2016 after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. Bloodkin’s latest album, Black Market Tango, was released in April 2021.
