[5/12/21]: MerleFest has announced the artist lineup for its return in September of this year. The 2021 edition of MerleFest, set to take place from September 16th–19th at Wilkesboro, NC’s Wilkesboro Community College, the 2021 edition of MerleFest marks the festival’s first installment since June of 2019. The 2020 edition of the event was among the first festivals to be canceled in early 2020 as the pandemic began to spread, and the event’s new June 2021 dates were later pushed to September.

The 2021 edition of MerleFest, presented by Window World, will feature performances by the stripped-down, rotating Tedeschi Trucks lineup that will be hitting the road this summer (Friday) as well as LeAnn Rimes (Friday), Sam Bush (Saturday), Melissa Etheridge (Sunday), and Mavis Staples (Sunday). Other scheduled MerleFest 2021 performers include Donna The Buffalo (all four dates), Scythian (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday), and The Waybacks (Friday and Saturday).

Additional artists scheduled to perform at the annual roots festival in the Blue Ridge Mountains will be announced in the coming weeks.

MerleFest was founded in 1988 in memory of Eddy Merle Watson as a fundraiser for Wilkes Community College and to celebrate ‘traditional plus’ music.

Tickets for MerleFest go on sale on June 10th via the event website. Check out the initial 2021 artist lineup below.
