The Smashing Pumpkins will dig into their expansive catalog of archival material with Live In Japan, 1992. The first-ever official archival release from the Chicago alt-icons will arrive on vinyl later this year, with pre-orders currently sold out.

Announced during Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin‘s weekend Gish 30th anniversary livestreamLive In Japan, 1992 is a long time coming. For a few years, Corgan has publicly flirted with opening up the band’s vaults for an archival release.

The Gish livestream itself even saw the debut of unheard Smashing Pumpkins material, as well. During the Saturday online event, Corgan and Chamberlin announced Live In Japan, 1992, which went on sale via Corgan’s Madam ZuZu’s tea shop in Chicago for 24 hours. The limited-edition, double LP purple swirl, 180-gram vinyl is currently sold out.
