Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio will return to The Beacon Theatre next month for his first full-capacity shows since the pandemic began. Anastasio’s solo concerts will be held at the New York City venue on June 22 & 23.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday, May 27) at 12 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster (June 22, June 23). All attendees must be over the age of 16 and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
The Beacon Theatre previously hosted Trey Anastasio’s “The Beacon Jams,” a series of eight weekly livestream concerts that took place every Friday evening between October 9 and November 27, 2020. Phish made their debut at the venue and played what stills stands as their only Beacon Theatre shows on April 13 – 15, 1994. Anastasio first brought the Trey Anastasio Band to The Beacon on October 26, 2012 and returned with the group in 2014, 2017 and 2019 ahead of last year’s “The Beacon Jams” series.
“Trey was the only artist to play live at The Beacon during the pandemic, so we’re honored that he’ll be the first artist back on our stage playing for a packed house,” said venue operator MSG Entertainment in a statement. “Trey is a New Yorker – lives on the Upper West Side near The Beacon, and has a history playing MSG Entertainment venues as a solo act, with Trey Anastasio Band and with Phish – so it was only fitting that he reopen the historic Beacon Theatre to fans.”
“As part of Governor Cuomo’s press conference on May 17, Jim Dolan (Executive Chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment) announced that MSG Entertainment would begin booking shows at 100% capacity with a fully vaccinated audience – in hopes that we could begin to pave the way for others,” added MSGE. “We are grateful for the state’s commitment to helping bring back live entertainment, which is so important to New York.”
Next up for Trey is a three-night stand at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York June 18 – 20. The concerts at SPAC will be Anastasio’s first in front of live, in-person audiences since Phish capped their Riviera Maya destination event on February 23, 2020.
