Over the weekend, the latest episode of ABC’s live music program The Set featured a huge collaboration in the form of Paul Kelly, Ziggy Ramo and Eves Karydas all teaming up to cover Rihanna‘s Anti cut ‘Never Ending’.
The stunning acoustic rendition saw Kelly playing guitar and trading verses with Karydas, and an additional verse from Ramo. All three harmonise on the chorus, with their voices complementing each other pretty sublimely. All three artists delivered their own performances, with Karydas delivering a live rendition of her 2020 single ‘Complicated’.
Kelly and Ramo also united to perform ‘Little Things’, Ramo’s reworking of Kelly’s collaboration with Kev Carmody, ‘From Little Things, Big Things Grow’. The new version arrived late last week alongside an accompanying video directed by Ramo himself and filmed atop the Sydney Opera House.
“‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’ has always been such an important song to not only me, but Australia. It was released in 1991, the same year as the Royal Commission into Indigenous deaths in custody,” Ramo said of the song upon releasing his version last week.
“30 years on I feel honoured to be given permission by Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody to revisit the story from another perspective. ‘Little Things’ doesn’t fit into a genre, it doesn’t really fit into today’s musical landscape but this art felt urgent and I wanted to share it with the world.”
