The Rolling Stones released video of “Brown Sugar” from Copacabana Beach on the legendary rockers’ 2006 Bigger Bang Tour stop in Rio di Janeiro. The clip previews The Stones’ upcoming concert film and live album, The Rolling Stones — A Bigger Bang: Live On Copacabana Beach, due out on July 9 via Mercury Studios.
While much of the concert was released in the 2007 film The Biggest Bang, the remixed, re-edited and remastered Live On Copacabana Beach features tracks that weren’t on The Biggest Bang including “Tumbling Dice,” “Oh No, Not You Again,” “This Place Is Empty” and “Sympathy For The Devil.” The setlist also features classics like “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll (But I Like It),” “Start Me Up,” “Satisfaction” and “Wild Horses” as well as newer tunes “Rain Fall Down” and “This Place Is Empty” along with a cover of Ray Charles’ “Night Time Is The Right Time.”
The Stones’ Copacabana Beach show took place on February 8, 2006. It was one of the largest free concerts in history.
“Not that we’re unused to playing some of the biggest shows in the world,” Keith Richards said in a statement, “but I must say Rio did take the cake.”
“It was amazing,” Mick Jagger added. “It was a really good audience. They know how to enjoy themselves on those occasions.”
Ahead of the release, Mercury Records is also issuing a teaser EP on May 28 which includes “Sympathy For The Devil,” “Wild Horses,” “You Got Me Rocking,” “Happy” and “Rough Justice,” the latter from the Salt Lake City Bigger Bang play, which comes as a bonus show on the deluxe edition. The Rolling Stones — A Bigger Bang: Live On Copacabana Beach will be available on DVD, CD, digital and vinyl.
