Two generations of stellar bluegrass musicians came together as Billy Strings and Del McCoury released a single featuring the traditional “Midnight On The Stormy Deep.” The pair also shared a performance video of the collaborative track.
Strings plays mandolin and sings the low parts of a song that has previously been covered by Doc Watson, Sam Bush, Tony Rice and many others. Del McCoury strums guitar and provides his signature high and lonesome vocals. Gary Paczosa produced, recorded and mixed the single. Paul Blakemore handled mastering duties.
Billy continues his extensive 2021 tour tonight with the first of two shows at Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio. The Del McCoury Band headlines the final day of the Weiser River Music Festival in Weiser, Idaho on Sunday.
