Dark Star Orchestra Welcomes Mike Gordon For “U.S. Blues”, On This Day In 2008 [Full Audio]

Dark Star Orchestra has been one of the premier Grateful Dead tribute bands for decades, recreating some of the Dead’s best performances for enthusiastic Deadheads everywhere. The group found their way to Higher Ground in Burlington, VT on June 2nd, 2008, taking the opportunity to recreate a June 4th, 1977 Grateful Dead concert. After two splintering sets featuring some of the Dead’s best, the band welcomed out a special guest: Mike Gordon.

The Phish bassist is a longtime Vermont resident, so his inclusion in the encore was all but natural. Gordo came out for the very last song, “U.S. Blues,” rocking it with the best of them. You can listen to the full show below, including Mike Gordon’s sit-in on the finale.
