Dave Matthews Band will release official audio featuring the group’s August 10, 2001 concert in Toronto as Live Trax Vol. 56: Molson Amphitheatre. The first ever Live Trax installment documenting a show in Canada is currently available for pre-order ahead of its arrival on July 16.
The DMB lineup at the time saw frontman Dave Matthews backed by drummer Carter Beauford, fiddler Boyd Tinsley, bassist Stefan Lessard, multi-instrumentalist LeRoi Moore and touring keyboardist Butch Taylor. Additionally, the group was augmented at points of each show by vocalists Brenda White-King, Tawatha Agee and Cindy Mizelle, aka The Lovely Ladies.
Live Trax Vol. 56: Molson Amphitheatre was recorded on a night that came over three months into DMB’s lengthy Spring/Summer Tour 2001. DMB would take the next few weeks off before wrapping the run with their traditional three-night stand at The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington and a one-off at Salt Lake City’s Delta Center on August 28.
The band turned in a 21-song performance in Toronto that started with the rare “Heartbeat Intro” ahead of the beloved “Pantala Naga Pampa” > “Rapunzel” pairing. Agee made her first appearance of the evening next on “Don’t Drink The Water” and all of The Lovely Ladies contributed to “The Space Between,” “True Reflections,” “Angel,” “I Did It,” “If I Had It All,” “JTR” and “Stay (Wasting Time)” later in the night. Dave Matthews began the encore with a partial solo “#40” and cover of Willie Nelson’s “Funny How Time Slips Away” before the rest of the band came out for the “Two Step” finale.
Live Trax Vol. 56: Molson Amphitheatre is due on CD and as downloadable FLAC and MP3 files.
