Goose Dusts Off Bob Dylan Cover In Perry

73

Goose continued their June tour on Tuesday night with the first of two concerts at the Silver Lake Twin Drive-In in Perry, New York. The quintet busted out a cover of Bob Dylan’s “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” for the first time in over six years as part of the evening’s second set.

Setlist staple “Turned Clouds” served as opener and was followed by “Doc Brown,” a song which dates back to multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach‘s pre-Goose band Great Blue. The five-piece then turned their attention to the music of Kenny Loggins through a medley featuring “I’m Alright,” “Make The Move” and “Danger Zone.”

The improvisational high point of the evening came next with an otherworldly “A Western Sun” Goose patiently built to a frothy peak over the course of 29 magical minutes. The quintet kept the jams flowing with a 23-minute “Echo Of A Rose” that featured plenty of blissful exploration.

Oldie “Into The Myst” kicked off last night’s second set. Next up was “Travelers” ahead of “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue.” Goose’s last and only other cover of the song from Bob Dylan’s 1965 album Bringing It All Back Home took place at Tavern On Seven in Norwalk, Connecticut on April 18, 2015 as per El Goose. Tuesday’s closing frame continued with “Spirit Of The Dark Horse” from the quintet’s recently released Shenanigans Nite Club album. “Spirit Of The Dark Horse” gave way to a section akin to “(7hunder)” in similar fashion to what appears on the LP.

The five-piece had one more number in store before the curfew led to an encore-less show. Goose made it count by delivering a stellar, improv-filled “The Empress Of Organos.” Silver Lake Twin Drive-In hosts round two tonight. A livestream is available for purchase via LiveXLive.com.
