Liz Phair Performs ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Liz Phair gathered her band to film a set for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert video series. Phair led the group through three songs from her recently released Soberish album as well as a classic off 1993’s Exile In Guyville.

Liz was backed by guitarists Connor Sullivan and Cody Perrin, bassist Ben Sturley and drummer Neal Daniels. The quintet started with Soberish gem “Spanish Doors.” Soberish, which arrived through Chrysalis Records on June 4, marked Phair’s first album of original material since 2010’s Funstyle.

The band performed in front of a bluescreen that displayed an expanded image of NPR Music host Bob Boilen’s desk between takes on “Spanish Doors” and “In There.” Liz and her band went on to play “The Game” from Soberish before reaching back to the 1990s for “Never Said,” the song that put Phair on the map.
