Brooklyn Made, a new, 500-capacity live music venue in Bushwick, Brooklyn, is set to open in late September.
The venue, operated by Anthony Makes and Kelly Winrich of Brooklyn Made Presents, which also books Manhattan’s United Palace and Canandaigua, NY’s CMAC, will celebrate its opening on September 30th and October 1st with a pair of performances by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy.
In addition to providing fans with an engrossing concert experience. As The New York Times notes, “Everything about the space is planned as deluxe and high-concept, from the Moroccan lamps adorning the 500-capacity performance space to the adjoining cafe and rooftop deck,” both of which will be open all day.
The artists’ experience at the venue was also of paramount importance to the Brooklyn Made operators. Artists performing at Brooklyn Made will enjoy the use of a private pool and a loft apartment upstairs from the venue.
Makes, the former president of Live Nation‘s New York office, also told the Times that in many cases, “Brooklyn Made will pay artists virtually the entire face value of tickets, an arrangement more common among superstar tours than in the razor-thin margins of the club business.”
Other notable acts shows set to take place at Brooklyn Made in its first month include Trombone Shorty (10/4, 10/5), Steve Earle (10/16), a solo acoustic evening with Nathaniel Rateliff (10/17), Band of Horses (10/18, 10/19, 10/20), City of the Sun (10/22), Menehan Street Band (10/28), The Budos Band (10/29, 10/30).
The inaugural Brooklyn Made schedule will continue through the end of 2021 with Aqueous (11/6), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (11/18), The Soul Rebels (11/20), Moon Hooch (12/10), Guided By Voices (12/31), and more.
While New York recently cleared concerts to resume at limited capacities—or at full capacities with 100%-vaccinated audiences—many venue operators have opted to remain dormant until restrictions loosen.
As Peter Shapiro, who owns New York venues like Brooklyn Bowl and The Capitol Theatre, told Live For Live Music back in March, “We are very happy to see things moving in a positive direction. We are going to continue to watch closely as the City and State implement the new rules and look forward to re-opening when the time is right for each of our venues. We have to juggle many factors when determining the right moment to re-open, but we can’t wait for that moment and it’s coming.”
Brooklyn Bowl has since started announcing new 2021 concerts beginning in September.
