New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club officially reopened this past week to kick off the Blue Note Jazz Festival. The series of shows at the Greenwich Village venue began on Tuesday with a six-night residency by pianist Robert Glasper. As in years past, Glasper’s shows were highlighted by an array of special guests, including surprise appearances by Common, Dave Chappelle, and Chris Rock.

Glasper and Common are certainly no strangers, as the Chicago-born rapper and Houston pianist have shared the stage plenty of times over the years, often at the Blue Note. The two also make up two-thirds of August Greene, a supergroup that also features Karriem Riggins.

This past weekend also saw Chappelle making his rounds in New York. Originally there for the premiere of Dave Chappelle: This Time This Place at Tribeca, the comedian also joined Foo Fighters onstage on Sunday night at Madison Square Garden for a cover of “Creep” by Radiohead.
