Twiddle delivered three sets at The Caverns in Pelham, Tenessee on Sunday. The first set saw the quartet going acoustic from inside the cave followed by two electric sets at The Caverns Above Ground Amphitheater.
The acoustic set — the first concert inside the cave since March 2020 — got underway with the swinging number “Daydream Farmer,” the opening track on Twiddle’s 2011 album Somewhere On The Mountain. Drummer Brook Jordan then led the band through the first verses of “Wildfire” before guitarist Mihali Savoulidis delivered a spirited solo ahead of the song’s conclusion.
Next came the classic “Frankenfoote.” The penultimate song of the acoustic set came in the form of “Earth Mama” before the band delivered their “Glycerine Medley,” a reggae mashup containing Bush‘s “Glycerine,” Bob Marley‘s “No Woman No Cry,” Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” and Phish’s “Farmhouse.” The medley wrapped up with a return to “Glycerine” to close out the acoustic frame.
Twiddle then headed above ground for two electric sets that began with the staple “Gatsby The Great” which led into “Hook” and “Blueberry Tumble” to wrap up the three-song seamless opening segment. A cover of Radiohead’s “Karma Police” followed ahead of “Amydst The Myst” and “Beethoven and Greene.” The relatively new tune “Life Back Now” would wrap up the first electric set.
The second electric excursion kicked off with “Subconscious Prelude” ahead of a segment containing “The Fantastic Tale Of Ricky Snickle” and a reprise of “Gatsby The Great.” The classic “Jamflowman” followed. “Brown Chicken Brown Cow” then came ahead of set closer, “The Box.” Twiddle would return for an encore of “Hatties Jam” and “When It Rains It Pours” to bring the three-set evening to a close.
