The newly-renovated Ardmore Music Hall will have plenty to celebrate the first week of August as the Philadelphia-area venue reopens to full-capacity crowds with a four-night celebration of Jerry Garcia dubbed Jerry Week.
The four-night run of concerts will celebrate the “Days Between,” the unofficial Grateful Dead holiday that marks the days between the guitarist/singer’s birth on August 1st, 1942 and his death on August 9th, 1995.
The concert series will run August 5th–8th and feature performances by Splintered Sunlight (8/5), an all-star Everyone’s Dead show (8/6), and Steve Kimock & Friends (8/7) as well as family-friendly Grateful Dead For Kids concert (8/8).
The celebration of Garcia’s life and legacy begins on the 5th with regional favorite Grateful Dead tribute act Splintered Sunlight, which has been exploring the music of the Dead and Jerry Garcia Band for over 25 years.
The following evening will bring a special engagement to the Ardmore: a production of Everyone’s Dead led by Matt Butler. The Everyone Orchestra bandleader will bring the collaborative and communal nature of his EO shows to the music of the Dead with help from special guests Steve Kimock, Marc Brownstein (The Disco Biscuits), Cris Jacobs, Steve Molitz (Particle), and James Casey (Trey Anastasio Band). Of note, Casey recently flexed his Dead chops as a special guest of Billy & The Kids during the group’s recent string of shows in Hawaii and Red Rocks Amphitheatre featuring Billy Strings.
Fans of post-Jerry ringer Steve Kimock will be sure to stick around the following evening for Steve Kimock & Friends on August 7th. For this performance, the former RatDog and The Other Ones guitarist will be joined by Friends Billy Goodman, Kenny Aaronson, Mike Borowski, and his son/accomplished drummer, John Morgan Kimock.
Jerry Week at Ardmore Music Hall will finally wind down with wholesome Sunday programming provided by Grateful Dead For Kids. Presented by Rock and Roll Playhouse, the regular Garcia’s engagement will also feature Steal Your Peach, as this 11:45 a.m. show translates the eternal music of the Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers Band for a younger audience.
In addition to the star-studded lineup of musicians, fans will enjoy all of the new renovations undergone by the Ardmore Music Hall during the pandemic. From a brand new marquee to balcony seating, an elevated stage, expanded hardwood dancefloors, and a revamped food and beverage program spearheaded by Ripplewood Whiskey & Craft, the venue is ready to welcome full-capacity crowds back like never before. AMH is so eager to see fans’ smiling faces again that everyone who arrives at the venue before 8 p.m. (excluding the afternoon Sunday show) will be treated to a free drink, compliments of Ardmore Music Hall, for nightly Welcome Back Toasts.
