Dave Matthews Band Busts Out ‘Drive In Drive Out’ In Alpharetta

Dave Matthews Band resumed their 2021 tour at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia on Tuesday following two days off. The septet’s third stop of the run featured a setlist that included nine tour debuts with the return of “Drive In Drive Out” after three years on the shelf among them.

The band came out of the gates at the Atlanta-area shed with “Warehouse” before treating fans to four consecutive tour debuts. “The Best Of What’s Around” from 1994’s Under The Table And Dreaming gave way to Busted Stuff gem “Grace Is Gone.” Next up were beloved oldie “One Sweet World” and Before These Crowded Streets live staple “The Stone.” From there, DMB played “#41” — the song that kicked off opening night in Raleigh — and the recently debuted “Walk Around The Moon.”

DMB continued on with the evening’s biggest surprise as they dusted off “Drive In Drive Out” from 1995’s Crash for the first time since June 1, 2018. The seven-piece then returned to Busted Stuff for the tour debut of “Digging A Ditch.” Additionally, “Gravedigger,” “Can’t Stop” and “Corn Bread” saw action for their 2021 debuts as part of last night’s 20-song main set.

Matthews and his mates brought the frame to a close with fan-favorites “Don’t Drink The Water” and “Grey Street.” Dave started the encore with a solo take on “Singing From The Windows,” a tune he wrote in the early days of the pandemic that has begun all three encores so far this tour. The rest of the band then returned for “Granny” and “Shake Me Like A Monkey” to end the evening. Dave Matthews Band now heads to MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa tonight.
