Goose returned to the scene of the crime on Saturday to close out the band’s run at Sculpture Park in Denver, CO with support from Kitchen Dwellers. The Saturday show wrapped up the second leg of Goose’s summer tour and marked one of the band’s largest headlining performances to date with a sold-out crowd of 5,000 people.

Opening up with “Jive II”, the performance was jam-packed with extensive improvisation as Goose was clearly in no rush to leave the Mile High City. The following “Time To Flee” bled into “Butter Rum” before a comfortably spaced-out “Turned Clouds” was washed away by “Your Ocean”. A lengthy, 14-minute “Arcadia” preceded the pairing of “Seekers On The Ridge” parts one and two to close out the first frame.

Before the official start of set two, the Bingo Tour theme was played as Jon “Coach” Lombardi judged the winners of the Coach look-alike contest who were competing for a free pass to Fred The Festival.

Set two then started in earnest as Goose jumped right back in tune with a massive, 22-minute “Arrow” that was not to be outdone by the 15-minute “Creatures” that followed. The segues continued to flow into an appropriately breathable “Moby” before the band took its first pause of the second set. Goose kept the laid back mood alive with Jim James‘ “State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U.)” before letting loose with an incendiary “Hot Tea”—which saw 11E1even Group founder Ben Baruch take over percussionist Jeffrey Arevalo‘s kit—to close out set two.

Unlike Friday night’s show, Goose earmarked enough time for an encore as the band returned to the stage for The Band‘s interpretation of “Don’t Do It”, first popularized by Marvin Gaye. With that, Goose’s bold Denver experiment—along with the second leg of the band’s summer tour—came to a close.

Goose will return to the stage for a festival slot at Floydfest in Virginia on July 24th before heading their own Fred The Festival at the LOCKN’ Farm in Arrington, VA August 20th–22nd.
