Pokey LaFarge recently released a new single, “Rotterdam.” The song will appear on the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming album, In The Blossom of Their Shade, due out on September 10 via New West Records.
LaFarge announced In The Blossom Of Their Shade, the follow up to his critically acclaimed 2020 album Rock Bottom Rhapsody, in June. Pokey also shared the video for lead single and album opener “Get It ‘Fore It’s Gone” and now follows with “Rotterdam.”
LaFarge spoke about “Rotterdam” with Brooklyn Vegan, who premiered the new track. “I wrote this song back in 2017 and I remember at the time how I admired the seemingly high level of social equality and access to certain social services there in The Netherlands,” LaFarge said. “But really it’s more about a place that doesn’t really exist—Rotterdam as utopia. Paired with a fair amount of confusion and frustration over how some things are in the USA, I found the lyrics to be an outlet.”
