The String Cheese Incident Welcomes Warren Haynes & Blind Boys Of Alabama At Peach Music Festival

55

The String Cheese Incident brought out Warren Haynes and the Blind Boys of Alabama during their Fourth Of July headlining performance at The Peach Music Festival. The pair of sets brought an end to the four-day festival held at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Haynes’ sit-in came at the end of the first set as the guitarist emerged to accompany The String Cheese Incident on an Independence Day cover of the Grateful Dead’s “U.S. Blues.” When SCI came back to start the second set, they brought with them the Blind Boys Of Alabama to have the renowned singing group lead a performance of “Amazing Grace” that was infused with “The House Of The Rising Sun.”

SCI started the show with the favorites “Texas” and “Lost,” followed by a cover of Newgrass Revival’s “Can’t Stop Now.” The first set also saw takes on the title track to SCI’s 2017 studio album, Believe, and a pairing of “Little Hands” with “The Big Reveal,” before Warren came out to punctuate the opening half with the Dead cover.

After the Blind Boys Of Alabama were cheered on as they exited the stage, SCI fired up “Best Feeling,” which included a brief interlude of Bob Marley’s “Exodus” and a jam resembling Oysterhead’s “Mr. Oysterhead” before transitioning into “Colliding.” Set two also featured “Search” that led into a drum break highlighting drummer Michael Travis and percussionist Jason Hann, as well as “Black And White” that segued into the set-closing “Black Clouds.”

SCI brought an end to their performance and the festival with a well-placed encore cover of The Allman Brothers Band’s instrumental classic “Jessica.” Watch videos of Warren Haynes and The Blind Boys Of Alabama joining The String Cheese Incident at The Peach Music Festival (and stream both SCI sets) below:
