Circle “D” Concert Series Continues in PA

168

On Saturday, July 31, 2021 Circle “D” Productions kicked off their late summer into Fall concert series with “The Days Between: A Tribute to Jerry Garcia”. Featured acts included The Englishtown Project led by legendary guitarist Michael Falzarano of Hot Tuna and New Riders of the Purple Sage, as well as Pure Jerry led by veteran jam guitarist Michael Morrow performing music of the Jerry Garcia Band and Jerry Garcia solo projects. Hundreds gathered on the lawn to enjoy a full day of music.

Following the “Days Between” shows Circle “D” will continue to host shows including Zendog for two sets. ZenDog came on to the scene recently in 2016 and over the past five years they have grown tremendously. This will be the band’s fourth appearance at the Lord’s New Church, and their first three shows were a great success. ZenDog approaches each show differently and focuses on a specific era for each setlist. Bassist and vocalist of the band, Brad Stoll shared with us, “Sometimes we feel like a late sixties show, an early seventies show, late seventies show, eight’s, etc. We’ll listen together to songs played on a specific date and try to capture the nuances of a particular jam or even a few seconds of something we thought was special. We try to stagger our setlists so that each show is a fresh experience, and that’s kind of been the mantra for us: a faithful Grateful Dead experience.”

On September 18th Steve Pollack aka The Dude of Life will perform with his band along with psych-rock artist Kudu Stooge.

Circle “D” Productions will continue to host live music into mid-November at the historic Lord’s New Church in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Once the estate of Rev. Theodore Pitcairn, the LNC rests just beyond Philadelphia and borders the Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust. In the 1930’s Pitcairn transformed the 1700’s farmland into a sprawling estate for his large family, equipped with a lavish home, orangery and greenhouse, and an art studio. Today, the land is largely occupied by visitors, private parties and weddings, and of course live music events.

The picturesque property has served as unique space to host live music outdoors throughout the summer and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Circle “D” and the LNC will also host indoor concerts beginning with two sets performed by New Riders tribute Panama Dead on October 2, 2021. Anders & Friends, a Philadelphia-based jam band will perform on October 9, 2021 with special guests, The Bostock Band. Anders & Friends is led by bassist and singer Anders Alfelt and includes members of Splintered Sunlight, Juggling Suns, Dirk Quinn Band, and more.

On October 30, 2021 local legends of The Karmic Repair Company will host their annual “Night of the Living Mullets” Halloween “Spooktacular”. And on November 13, 2021 Circle “D” welcomes Pink Floyd tribute Shine On featuring the incredible vocals of Camille K. To open the evening local musician David H. Koster will perform a set of psychedelic rock.

The Lord’s New Church is located at 1725 Huntingdon Road Huntingdon Valley, PA
