Dave Matthews Band stopped by Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, Maryland on Saturday. DMB busted out a cover of The Zombies’ “Time Of The Season” and also offered up the tour debut of their classic “Say Goodbye.”

Dave Matthews Band kicked off the concert with vintage tunes “One Sweet World” and “Seek Up” before delving into relatively newer material with “Sweet,” “Do You Remember” and “Why I Am.” The classic “Crush” then prefaced “Time Of The Season.”

The Zombies’ keyboardist and vocalist Rod Argent wrote the ’60s psychedelic anthem which appeared on the band’s 1968 album Odessey and Oracle. Dave Matthews Band had not performed the tune since April 1, 2019 in Italy for a total of 138 shows, as per DMB Almanac. The Merriweather play marked the 23rd time the band played the song since its debut in 2005 with the lion’s share of those performances coming that year as well as in 2018 and ‘19.

Dave led the band through the song and seemed to be having a good time, cracking up after hitting the high notes on the chorus. As a song with an iconic organ line, “Time Of The Season,” also saw keyboardist Buddy Strong tearing up the Hammond.

The set continued with the favorite “Tripping Billies,” freshly debuted song “The Only Thing,” “So Damn Lucky” and “Gravedigger.” Next up, “Drive In Drive Out” proceeded the tour debut of “Say Goodbye.” A Dave Matthews Band classic, debuted in 1993 and appearing on the 1996 landmark album Crush, “Say Goodbye” was last played by DMB on September 10, 2019 in San Francisco.

Following “Drive In Drive Out,” Drummer Carter Beauford reeled off a brief but powerful drum solo before hitting “Say Goodbye’s” drum intro joined by Jeff Coffin on flute. Dave then led the band through the beloved tune ahead of “Louisiana Bayou,” “Write A Song” and a set closing segment of “Corn Bread” and “Ants Marching.” DMB returned to the stage to encore with “Crash Into Me” and Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower.”
