Italian rock band Måneskin have kept the good times rolling since winning the Eurovision Song Contest in late May. Earlier this month, they dropped the Iggy Pop collaboration, ‘I Wanna Be Your Slave’, and now video has surfaced of Måneskin covering Billie Eilish’s ‘Bury a Friend’.
‘Bury a Friend’ was released as the third single from Eilish’s debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?. Måneskin have performed the song at the first two legs of their current European festival tour. Crowd footage taken at Belgium’s Ronquières Festival shows Måneskin giving the song an aggressive makeover, making it sound more like Queens of the Stone Age than Eilish’s muted original.
It goes off, too – the doting Ronquières audience are absolutely lapping it up.
Måneskin won the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest with their hard-rocking original, ‘Zitti E Buoni’. In doing so, the four-piece band, led by 22-year-old singer Damiano David, became only the third Italian act to win Eurovision and the country’s first since Toto Cutugno in 1990.
Måneskin’s second album, Teatro d’ira: Vol. I, was released just prior to the contest. ‘Zitti E Buoni’ is the album’s opening track, while I Wanna Be Your Slave’ caps off side one. The latter was re-released in early August with guest vocals from Iggy Pop. “Måneskin gave me a big hot buzz,” Iggy said of the collab.
