Spacebomb Records founder Matthew E. White today released the new single “Nested” and an accompanying music video. “Nested” appears on K Bay, a solo album due out through Domino Records on September 10.
White previously previewed his first solo album in six years with “Genuine Hesitation” and “Electric.” While K Bay is artist’s first solo LP since 2015’s Fresh Blood, Matthew E. White teamed with Lonnie Holley for the collaborative 2021 album Broken Mirror: A Selfie Reflection.
K Bay features 11 tracks recorded at a home studio that shares its name with Matthew’s third full-length solo album. “Newly married and starting to talk about children as he inched toward 40, White funneled a lifetime of experiences, enthusiasms, and obsessions into these new songs,” noted press materials heralding the album.
“‘Nested’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve written, a song about whatever the opposite of coming-of-age is,” said White in a press release. “It was recorded after two intense, transformative days of rehearsal, in one magic take that showcases the distilled, in-the-moment, sledgehammer power of the band.”

Matthew E. White opens for Drive-By Truckers at Virginia Credit Union LIVE! at Richmond Raceway in his hometown of Richmond on August 26.
