Fruition traveled to Dillon Amphitheater on Friday for the band’s first show since March 2020. The concert saw opening support from Mipso as well as a guest appearance by Kyle Hollingsworth (The String Cheese Incident).

Though the metaphorical storm clouds of the live music shutdown had dissipated around Fruition, that didn’t stop literal storm clouds from enshrouding Dillon, CO.

The band’s soundcheck was marred by torrential downpours that gave way to thunder, lightning, and even some hail for good measure. Following the dissipation of the elements, Fruition returned to the stage. In the end, opening act Mipso only had to cut five minutes off its set to accommodate the pushed-back show time from 7 p.m. to 7:45.

The show was able to go on as lightning strikes trailed off over the horizon. Yet, legions of fans braved the elements throughout the show as they danced in the downpours that persisted through the evening. Given the past 16 months without a Fruition live show, the fans weren’t going anywhere. Add on the fact that this was Fruition’s largest headlining show to date with 3,000 tickets sold and it would’ve taken a tornado to make these fans budge.
