The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson was the Tedeschi Trucks Band‘s special guest at a concert the two groups played eight years ago today. Robinson joined the TTB on the final two numbers of their set at Boston’s Bank Of America Pavilion and audio of the performance can be streamed below for this installment of Full Show Friday.
The Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks-led band paired “Do I Look Worried” and “Misunderstood” from Made Up Mind, a studio album that would arrive a few weeks later, to open the evening. Next up was “Get What You Deserve” from The Derek Trucks Band repertoire. The TTB then returned to Made Up Mind for “It’s So Heavy” before covering George Harrison’s “Wah-Wah” and Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “That Did It.”
More originals followed as a well-jammed “Bound For Glory” was followed by Derek showcases “The Storm” and “Midnight In Harlem.” Chris Robinson then emerged according to setlist notes for Made Up Mind’s title track. While Chris’ contributions aren’t audible on “Made Up Mind,” he displays his powerful pipes and harmonica skills on the Sly & The Family Stone medley “Simple Song” > “I Want To Take You Higher” that closes the set.
