The Isley Brothers Perform ‘Tiny Desk (Home) Concert’

179

The Isley Brothers performed a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert for NPR Music. The legendary group led by Ronald Isley and Ernie Isley performed songs from their hit-filled and highly influential catalog.

Recorded at The Isley Brothers’ home studio in St Louis, the Tiny Desk gets going with 1983’s “Between The Sheets,” a song later sampled for the Notorious B.I.G’s “Big Poppa” with Ron Isley nodding to the hip hop great at the beginning of the performance. As NPR pointed out, the four songs on the setlist for the Isleys’ Tiny Desk have been covered or sampled by over 300 artists.

Those songs include 1977’s “Footsteps In The Dark” and 1975’s “For The Love Of You.” The session ends with another classic, 1973’s “That Lady.” Watch The Isley Brothers’ Tiny Desk (Home) Concert below via the JamBase Live Video Archive:
