Umphrey’s McGee offered their first ever cover of “E-Pro” by Beck during their Sunday afternoon set at the Summer Camp Music Festival. The band’s Sunshine Stage performance was their sixth and final set at this year’s installment of the festival held at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois.
The sextet hit the ground running with a version of oldie “Slacker” featuring a jam heavy on rock soundscapes. Umphrey’s then treated attendees to “Hourglass” before returning to a focus on improvisation with a 13-minute “Phil’s Farm” and well-jammed “JaJunk.”
Next up was “Half Delayed,” the newest song UM would play at Summer Camp on Sunday. The six-piece continued on with “Night Nurse,” an instrumental penned by drummer Kris Myers. From there, Umphrey’s worked a jam out of classic “Much Obliged” into their debut “E-Pro.” The band stuck close to the version found on Beck’s 2005 studio album, Guero, at first before guitarist Jake Cinninger led his mates on an intense improvisation between verses.
