Dave Matthews Band premiered an original entitled “The Only Thing” during their concert this past Friday night in Noblesville, Indiana. Videographer ChesterCopperpot5 compiled footage shot by eight fans with two audio sources to create a supercut video featuring the newest DMB song.
“I don’t think I’ve ever played this song before,” frontman Dave Matthews exclaimed before performing “The Only Thing” at the first of two shows held at Ruoff Music Center. The septet went on to debut one of the hard-edged songs in the last few album cycles.
Dave Matthews revealed the group has a new album in the works during a chat with SiriusXM’s Ari Fink that aired before DMB’s 2021 tour opener in Raleigh on July 23. “I think we’re getting really close to being finished with it,” Matthews said to Fink. “Maybe it will come out in a few months but I’m sure we’re gonna play the songs live. Maybe we’ll play a couple of them tonight.”
“The Only Thing” is one of three songs debuted by Dave Matthews Band so far this tour. The group unveiled “Walk Around The Moon” and “The Ocean & The Butterfly” in Raleigh. Dave noted on opening night “Walk Around The Moon” was the first song DMB played after the full band initially gathered for the sessions/rehearsals.
