Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus Has Announced He Is Now Cancer Free

81

After revealing he was undergoing chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis earlier this year (later revealed to be stage 4 lymphoma), Blink-182 bassist Mark Hoppus has now announced he is cancer-free.

“Just saw my oncologist and I’m cancer free!!” Hoppus wrote in an Instagram post earlier this morning. “Thank you God and universe and friends and family and everyone who sent support and kindness and love.”

Hoppus goes on to say that he’ll continue to get scans every six months and it’ll take until the end of the year to get back to normal, but that “today is an amazing day and I feel so blessed.”

Hoppus revealed he had begun treatment for cancer back in June of this year, receiving an outpouring of support from the music world, including from former Blink bandmate Tom DeLonge, who called him a “super-human who is pushing through this difficult obstacle with a wide-open heart.”

Earlier this month, DeLonge confirmed that Hoppus’ chemotherapy treatment was complete, sharing a screenshot of a text message exchange between the pair in which Hoppus says his doctor believed the treatment had been effective.
