Bonny Light Horseman — the trio featuring Anaïs Mitchell, Josh Kaufman and Fruit Bats mastermind Eric D. Johnson — took part in a session for Paste Magazine’s Paste Studio On The Road video/livestream series this past Sunday. The group played three songs from their self-titled 2020 debut album on the grounds of the Green River Festival in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
Johnson led his bandmates through “Mountain Rain” to start the set. Mitchell and Kaufman then shared Bonny Light Horseman’s origin story. Next, Mitchell starred on “The Roving” before members of the three-piece discussed their use of Dropped-D tuning. The session ended with a gorgeous “Blackwaterside” featuring stunning harmonies from Anaïs and Eric.
