Rose Ganache Releases ‘Friction’ Single Featuring Ryan Stasik & Kris Myers

Rose Ganache, the duo of vocalist/guitarist MeShell Wolf and guitarist James Coburn, are back with the new single “Friction.” The track featuring the Umphrey’s McGee rhythm section of drummer Kris Myers and bassist Ryan Stasik was released on September 24, 2021 and previews Rose Ganache’s debut EP, Madness From Two, expected this November.

“’Friction’ is an expression of modern day existential anxiety and self-reckoning,” explained Coburn. “With a simple ‘90s era rock backdrop, songwriter MeShell Wolf uses powerful lyrics to provide contemplations on the pressures of self-discovery and relational growth.”

“Friction” follows the April release of “Isolation,” the first track off Madness From Two. Stasik and Myers appear on “Isolation” and are featured on the whole EP Madness From Two, with continued production support of The Disco BiscuitsMarc Brownstein. “James and MeShell are great. I was honored they asked me to work with them on this project,” Ryan Stasik said. “I love working with awesome, kind people.”

Ray Bardani and Tip Wyman co-produced “Friction” (along with the rest of the EP, including a remaster of “Isolation”) with Rose Ganache. Bardani and Wyman mixed “Friction” at Wyman Records in Los Angeles, where the EP was recorded. Reuben Cohen mastered the song at L.A.’s Lurssen Mastering. Ray, Tip and Reuben held the same roles on Ledisi’s The Wild Card, an album featuring “Anything For You,” a track that scored the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance in March 2021. “I just think it’s a very cool record,” noted Bardani of “Friction” and added, “It’s got a great vibe. It’s accessible, memorable and direct.”

Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Rose Ganache formed in March 2020 when Wolf and Coburn used the time afforded by the pandemic lockdown to change the course of the project after two years of performing around Charleston as an acoustic act.
