SOJA released a new single, “Reason To Live,” featuring Dirty Heads and Nanpa Basico. The song is set to land on the Washington D.C.-based reggae outfit’s forthcoming album, Beauty In The Silence.

Beauty In The Silence is SOJA’s first full-length album in four years following their 2017 LP, Poetry In Motion. The band announced the new record in July and previewed it with “Press Rewind” featuring Collie Buddz and J Boog. The group followed with “The Day You Came” with UB40 and Rebelution in August.

SOJA continues the rollout of the guest-filled Beauty In The Silence with “Reason To Live.” The song “bears a certain spellbinding quality that SOJA frontman Jacob Hemphill partly credits to Dirty Heads’ mind-bending creativity,” press materials for “Reason To Live” noted.

“Those guys are like mad scientists,” Hemphill said of Dirty Heads. “They’ve got music that sounds like hip-hop and reggae and pop all at once, and at the root of it are these lyrics that hit you so hard.”

The new single also features Colombian hip hop artist Nanpa Básico, who sings a Spanish verse on “Reason To Live,” which Hemphill further detailed:

“You might be going through life with all these plans and thoughts of how it’s all going to work out, and then something happens and you realize that what you were so focused on was actually hurting you,” Hemphill added. “The truth is that the future isn’t in your hands, and your reason to live might come from a place that you weren’t expecting at all.”
