Dobro player Andy Hall of The Infamous Stringdusters previewed his forthcoming A Universe Within album by sharing its second single, “A Moment Away.” The eight-track ambient album arrives through Americana Vibes on September 24.
The follow-up to 2020’s 12 Bluegrass Classics for Resophonic Guitar shows off a different side of Hall’s musicality than the jamgrass for which he’s best known. Andy explores the New Age world on A Universe Within with the aim of “creating a space to reflect, and to feel things in a more quiet, peaceful way,” as per a press release announcing the LP.
“I can hear a lot of my influences come through on this song,” Andy reflected on the album’s second single. “A little ‘Planet Caravan’ by Black Sabbath, a little Pink Floyd ‘Echoes,’ infused into a sparse dobro melody. I definitely imagine some space travel with this one!” Hall previously unveiled “Halls Of The Eclipse,” the lead single for A Universe Within.
