Coldplay closed out a week-long residency on The Late Late Show With James Corden last night with a performance of “Higher Power.” The song and all others played this week appear on the band’s recently released album, Music Of The Spheres.
“Higher Power” came out in May as the lead single from Music Of The Spheres. Max Martin produced the track with Oscar Holter and Bill Rahko. The four members of Coldplay co-wrote “Higher Power” with Max Martin, Federico Vindver and Denise Carite.
“We’ve been trying to imagine what music might sound like on other planets, and try to imagine being those other acts, so we’re not thinking of ourselves as being the band Coldplay from England,” frontman Chris Martin (no relation to Max) told the BBC’s Zoe Ball regarding how the band approached “Higher Power.” Music Of The Spheres arrived last Friday.
Coldplay started the residency on Monday by performing “Let Somebody Go” with Selena Gomez. The Brits followed with “My Universe” on Tuesday and collaborated with Jacob Collier and We Are KING on “Human Heart” for Wednesday’s episode.
