Stadium rock darlings Coldplay will be live streaming their first arena show in half a decade next Saturday to celebrate the release of their 9th LP Music Of The Spheres.
The record, which comes out today, is the follow-up to 2019’s Everyday Life, and see’s the band once again experiment with poppier elements – no doubt to the gall of some – but in a move that’s proven to be enormously successful for them in the past, and is sure to be again.
With the band set to perform the entire album, and we assume some older favorites, it appears that once again a certainty for the ’20s will be life, death, taxes, and Coldplay filling football stadiums every few years.
The stream will begin at 12:oopm AEST on Saturday, October 23, broadcast on Amazon Prime and coming from Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, with direction from Paul Dugdale.
“It’s great that fans all around the world can tune in to Amazon Music and watch our first show after the release of Music Of The Spheres”, said the band in a statement.
The performance also marks the grand opening of the Climate Pledge Arena, a historic moment for the first net-zero certified arena in the world.
The band didn’t perform any tour dates to support Everyday Life citing environmental concerns, stating that they would hold off touring until they could figure out “how [our] tour can not only be sustainable (but) how can it be actively beneficial.”
Now, the band has announced the Music Of The Spheres World Tour, which will see the band visit three continents (no Australian dates as of yet), including three dates at Wembley Stadium, with all gigs being powered by 100% renewable energy.
Music Of The Spheres is out now, an astral-themed album that includes an appearance from K-Pop megastars BTS (among others).
