Eggy premiered a live video of “Finding and Losing” on Tuesday night, filmed at the band’s recent show supporting Spafford at Fine Line in Minneapolis, MN on October 8th. This performance marked the first time Eggy has played Minneapolis.
Arriving as the first of a three-song opening set, which also included “Wireless” and “Today and Tomorrow”, Eggy took this particular rendition of “Finding and Losing” for a long ride. Often a jam vehicle stretching past ten minutes, Minneapolis saw a “Finding and Losing” that cruised for 18 with an exploratory jam full of cohesive improvisation.

After ramping up to the song’s funkified groove, marked by a bouncy progression from Dani Battat‘s keys and guitar lick interjections from Jake Brownstein, the band stayed there for a bit before the first verse. As Brownstein sang the verses he was met by harmonies from Battat, drummer Alex Bailey, and bassist Michael Goodman. A short jam section led back to another romp through the verse and chorus.
Moving in lockstep and guided by Goodman and Bailey, Eggy then made its way to an expansive improv section. Soon enough, the structure of the original song began to fade away as Eggy probed new territory. The cosmic journey saw each member take a turn in the driver’s seat before, eventually, the band made its way back towards the familiarity of “Finding and Losing”.

Eggy will continue performing with Spafford throughout October and November, including upcoming shows at The Pour House in Charleston, SC (10/20), and Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte, NC (10/21).
