Jonathan Wilson joined Father John Misty‘s (Josh Tillman) for two songs at Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur, California on Sunday. Wilson, who opened the show with a set of his own, emerged in the middle of Father John Misty’s performance to add to “Pure Comedy” and “I’m Writing A Novel.”
Father John Misty played a 17-song show for his first of two nights in Big Sur with Jonathan Wilson. Tillman opened with the title track from 2015’s I Love You, Honeybear. FJM also performed “Strange Encounter,” “Chateau Lobby #4 (In C For Two Virgins)” and “Holy Shit” from the LP. Additionally, Tillman’s set featured five cuts from 2012’s Fear Fun, three tunes off 2017’s Pure Comedy and five found on 2018’s God’s Favorite Customer. Wilson collaborated on all four studio albums and co-produced Fear Fun, I Love You, Honeybear and Pure Comedy. He was also among those with co-production credits on God’s Favorite Customer.
Jonathan Wilson accompanied Father John Misty on acoustic guitar. Wilson played slide on both “Pure Comedy,” the title track from the 2017 LP, “I’m Writing A Novel.” The latter was featured on FJM’s Fear Fun. Father John Misty and Jonathan Wilson return for a second night in Big Sur this evening.
