Park City Music Hall Set To Open In Bridgeport

188

Park City Music Hall — the Bridgeport, Connecticut venue formerly known as The Acoustic — will officially host its first show on November 20 after undergoing major renovations. Supergroup Marble Eyes will perform on the 20th with concerts featuring Toubab Krewe, Rebirth Brass Band, The Nth Power and Amy Helm among those on the 300-capacity venue’s initial lineup.

New owners the Torres family purchased The Acoustic in Bridgeport’s Black Rock neighborhood earlier this year and are in the process of revamping a venue that shuttered in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Park City Music Hall improvements include a 500-foot expansion as well as a new sound system, facade, bathrooms, kitchen and oversized bar. Food and drinks will be served at a room that has a history of hosting live music that dates back to 1999. Additionally, the stage has been moved to allow for more natural lighting.

The Torres family also owns the nearby Harborview Market, a Black Rock restaurant they’ve operated since 1993. John Torres will serve as Park City Music Hall’s general manager.

“I’ve been going to The Acoustic since it opened,” John Torres told the Connecticut Post for a recent feature on Park City Music Hall. “So much of my memories of my teens, 20s and 30s are at The Acoustic. I was a fixture there. I played there. My first show was there.”

The article includes mention that the Torres family hopes, “the venue could hold a soft opening a week or two before [November 20] for friends and family.”

Park City Music Hall operators have been sharing construction updates on the establishment’s social feeds. “We are coming in hot, but we do intend to come in on time,” ends a note posted last Thursday, October 21. “The Acoustic used to open pretty much for shows, and at night,” John Torres added in his chat with the Connecticut Post. “We’re trying to be open seven days. We’re trying to create an environment you would want to be at whether there’s a show.”

Marble Eyes features guitarist Mike Carter (The Indobox), bassist Eric Gould (Pink Talking Fish), drummer Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu) and keyboardist Max Chase (Amulus). Tickets for opening night are on sale here. Check out the inaugural lineup as it currently stands below:
