Robert Plant and Alison Krauss unveiled “High And Lonesome,” the latest single from the pair’s Raise The Roof studio album. Raise The Roof is the second collaborative album from Plant and Krauss following 2007’s Raising Sand and is due out via Rounder Records on November 19.

“High And Lonesome,” the album’s lone original, was penned by Plant and T Bone Burnett, who produced both Raise The Roof and Raising Sand. Robert and Alison assembled with Burnett in late 2019 at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville to record the 12-track LP and completed work just weeks before the pandemic began. Raising Sand features songs by Allen Toussaint, Bert Jansch, Calexico, Merle Haggard and others in addition to the original released today. “One of my favorite parts of this is the songs and songwriters that I had never heard of,” said Alison Krauss. “Working with Robert, and with T Bone, is always a great education in music history.”

The Led Zeppelin frontman and bluegrass great were backed by a stellar band on “High And Lonesome” featuring guitarist Marc Ribot, pedal steel wiz Russ Pahl, drummer Jay Bellerose and bassist Dennis Crouch as well as Burnett on electric guitar and mellotron, Viktor Krauss on mellotron and Jeff Taylor on bass accordion. Plant and Krauss previously shared Raise The Roof’s lead single, “Can’t Let Go.”
