Back in September, four-piece Albany alt-rock band Tip released their EP, ABI. Its second track, “Ellipses” carries some grunge influences and no shortage of cryptic lyrics: “They’re getting younger by the minute, running in the wheel / And while they know their way around the maze I think they like it here.” Almost as intriguing as the music is the EP’s cover art, a drained swimming pool filled with antique furniture.

Bathrobe Robots

Sibling duo Bathrobe Robots make electronic music with a political bent. Their anthemic single “Alt-War” even includes a sound bite from Senator Bernie Sanders on the bridge: “The only way change takes place is when ordinary people come together, and stand up and fight, and say the status quo isn’t working.” Over the summer, they released “Speak Now,” which similarly speaks about using your voice.
